May 23 - Bleeding Hearts

Sure, the name of these flowers is a bit morbid, but Bleeding Hearts are absolutely beautiful! I always thought they looked a little like the head of my Pippy Longstockings Doll with those upturned pigtails hehe!

May 22 - Mom's Roses

One of the roses from my mother's garden. She just loves those yellow roses !

May 21 - Wild Rose

Who ever said that wild roses weren't as pretty as cultivated ones? I kinda like their ruggedness and desire to bloom in the strangest of places ! 

May 20 - Azalea

Azalea's come in so many different colors and varieties it has been difficult to pick which ones to photograph! Their bursts of color in the beginning of spring always makes me smile :)

May 19 - Calla Lily

A different type of Lily today... the Calla Lily! So simple and so beautiful, it's not a surprise why this is so often used in wedding floral arrangements!

May 18 - Water Lily

An absolutely beautiful Water Lily in a friend's koi pond. I could stare at this flower all day... in fact, I think I did....  :)

May 17 - Last Tulips!

So pretty!! As promised, these are the last tulips for the month (as well as the last of the Luxembourg Gardens of Paris pictures). I hope you enjoy this little bit of sunshine today! Especially since where I am, it has been raining for DAYS!!!!

May 16 - First Lily of the Valley

OK, yes technically you are supposed to give Lily of the Valley on the first of May, but this was the first one I found in my yard this year. He got a little splattered with dirt from all the rain lately but I thought he was just so cute!

Did you know that.... Lily of the Valley is the only floral sent that CANNOT be synthesized (meaning cannot be made by humans)?

May 15 - Another Luxembourg Garden

Haha, yes... ANOTHER shot of the Luxembourg Gardens in Paris... These flowers looked like fire sparkles from further away! I just love how they mix all the colors perfectly... and the little teeny tiny hedge that holds them all in!

May 14 - Flowers on my desk

Here are some Gerber Daisies the magically found their way onto my desk at work one day... such a great way to brighten my day :)

May 13 - Luxembourg Gardens

This is another picture from my trip to Paris last month. These tulips were in the Luxembourg Gardens next to the French Senate. I just love all the little plants that are mixed in as well as the sunlight streaming through the flowers :)

May 12 - Buttery Rose

Who doesn't love roses? This one was such a beautiful buttery yellow, it almost seemed like it had been carved out of butter like they do in restaurants!

May 11 - Paris Flower Market

This will not be my only Wisteria photo, but it will be the only one in Paris. I find these flowers so beautiful and so deliciously fragrant. Too bad that the bumblebees like to hide in them!

May 10 - Candy Cane Tulips

This is another picture from the Luxembourg Gardens in Paris, France. When I took it, I was trying to capture the baby sparrow that was bouncing from tulip to tulip. Unfortunately, I couldn't get him but I did end up with a picture that makes me want a Candy Cane !

May 9 - Cherry Blossoms

I walk past this tree every day lately and since it has started blooming I've taken a picture every time. Hopefully, this is the best one ;) 

May 8 - Happy Mother's Day!

Lilacs...My mother has always loved them and therefore every time I smell them I think of her. She planted these a few years ago and they have just become a beautiful mix of pale pink and white.

May 7 - Fire Tulips

These are the tulips around the statue in Paris that I posted yesterday. They were just so beautiful and made me smile cheerfully every day I walked past them and had little yellow Pansies planted among them. This was in the Jardins de Luxembourg.

May 6 - Spring is Here!!

I was in Paris last week and this picture really sums up how it felt to finally experience Springtime! I wanted to be this nymph and go running barefoot through the grass with the sun streaming down on me...

Perhaps I should start now....

So as much as I LOVED the idea of starting this photo blog with January 1st to really be able to chronicle a year, I'm starting to really be anxious to post the May flowers I keep capturing beautiful pictures of everyday lately.  Therefore......drumroll......

Spring is in the Air and I'm gonna skip to MAY FLOWERS!!!!! haha!

I'll get back to the January Winter scenes when we get back to January. In the meantime, I'm just going to start from today...May 6th 2011 as the day to really start calculating a year.

Day 5: January - Blizzard Street

Today's Picture: The quietness of a street when you're one of the first people awake when a blizzard hit the night before is one of my favorite things :) 

Day 4: January - Snow Dog

Today's Picture: This is my dog Lola, I couldn't resist putting one of her in here. I think you will probably end up seeing her in this blog multiple times haha! She is a Chihuahua who LOVES the snow. Go Figure!! She is my pride and joy <3

Day 3: January - Ski Trip Sunrise

Today's Picture: This was taken really early one morning as I was about to drive over the Throgs Neck Bridge in New York on my way out of the city and toward upstate NY for a ski day. I know it's a bit blurry but the colors were just so pretty I had to share it.

Day 2: January - Top of Windham Mountain

Today's Picture: This is the view from one of my favorite mountains: Windham Mountain in New York. This was taken off the East Peak (3,100ft) on (I think!) the Why Not (black diamond) trail . It gets windy on this side sometimes, but when it's not, it is the best place to ski. There are usually very few people up here and the view is awesome!

Day 1: January - A Year Through My Cellphone Begins...

One day, bored before going to bed, I started to scroll through the pictures in my cellphone. I've had this phone for over 2 years and needless to say I've accumulated quite a few photos! I started to notice a trend in things I liked to photograph (other than the obvious silly drunken faces and pictures of my dog) and wondered if I could fill up and entire calendar year with pictures from my cellphone grouped in themes every month.

Here is that experiment...

The months will have the following themes:

January - Winter or Snow
February - Love
March - Luck
April - Rain
May - Flowers
June - Horses or Butterflies or Baseball (not sure yet)
July - American
August - Summer Fun
September - School
October - Halloween
November - Fall Colors
December - Christmas
